What is speach level speech level singing?

it has to d with the fact that most of us speak in our lower register, and that we don't need to put out a lot of energy or
air to do this. It's based on an old Italian saying "si canta come si parla" ( one sings as one speaks) but none of us English speakers speak as beautifully as the folks who speak Tuscan dialect . We need to re-think our method of pronunciation to get it that clean, then we can also sing as we speak.
(I think it's mostly a lot of hype to try and re-invent singing from an "american" point of view, where the old tried and true Italian method of 400 years ago does pretty darn well still)

The main difference is in middle voice. You are expected to blend your chest and head voice and then strengthen that mix the more you practice. Honestly, I did speech level for 2 years and I did not get any better. I am now with a new instructor who teaches as they do in gospel choirs, the difference in only 4 weeks was incredible. I don't reccommend speech level at all.
