Oh and how to sound not too breathy when i sing. When i sing i seem to sound really breathy and i need to know how to hold a strong note please and thankyou!
I am a girl!

Please please please!!!!

I've sang my entire life and joined a band rock/metal and can tell you the MOST important thing is to make sure when you are singing its coming from your diaphragm.
If you want to sing strong thats where the powerful notes come from and if youre going to sing in a live band you will have to learn how to do that for your voice to even be heard over the guitars;drums etc...
Here's some tips to begin with but obviously these are just for starters:
*Stand straight with one foot slightly in front of the other ~ I know, I know but Posture is huge at first....
*Place a hand on the highest area under your chest ( right at the top center area of your ribcage )and sing something that you know you are good at and can hit some serious notes with....
*When you hit your strongest notes you WILL feel the vibration coming from your Diaphragm area _ If you are breathy when singing this means you are singing either nasally or from your throat.
As long as you have the chops for this type of singing, once you get this down; you will do it automatically. Actually if you look at Whitney/Mariah etc.. the ones with serious singing ability you can actually see their lips vibrating from the powerful notes they hit... pretty cool.
Anyways; Remember to have fun; thats what its all about after all.

don't drink soda! and don't try to yell or scream =)

Use you diaphram to proiject your voice...the sound should come from you entire torso and not just your throat.

First you have to calm down! The key to singing is letting your voice "flow" without you straining your voice! it is important to take breaths from your diaphram "stomach" and NOT from your nose. If you do that you probably won't need a lot of breaths but keep in mind you have to breathe often so it does'nt sound funny! Lots of Luck!

I have one tip that could really help, and we're in the same boat os best of luck :) so the tip is to lay on your back sometimes and practice feeling your stomach move in and out instead of your chest when you breathe. its much better for breathe support than having to suck in all that air with your chest. It will help with sustaining and breath control. Good luck!

voice lessons can be pretty cheap, look around.

Good singing technique is very important, for you to not hurt your voice.
The idea is to project the maximum sound with minumal stress on your vocal cords.
Most singers these days have shockingly bad singing technique, including all these "R&B" adn pop singers who sing through their nose. And people like Mariah and Christina are constantly moving their microphone front and back in front of their faces because they have no control over their voice.
A good friend of mine described the first rule of good singing is to "sing like you just got punched in the stomache." That makes you tighten your stomach muscles and support your voice. You want to sing from your stomach (not your chest or throat) think of Pavarotti, and how much air he could hold!
Second, you want to have your throat very open, and try to project the sound up into your forehead (not your nose). This is difficult at first, but lets all your sonic resonators open, instead of closing them off. FOCUS the sound as you sing, and don't push air. A good singer should be able to sing a loud note with a candle burning in front of their mouth WITHOUT having the candle flame flicker! That is, sing without pushing air out.
Good luck, this is a lot but work on it slowly and you will improve.

You need to breathe with your diaphragm to support the tone and sustain a note. Easier said than done. When you breath diaphragmatically you push your stomach out as you inhale. Leave the diaphragm extended as long as you can while you sing (until you need to take another breath). If you practice this technique, you can sing many measures before taking another breath and the distension will also prevent vocal wobbling (otherwise known as vibrato or tremolo)

so your about 20 and want to sing, best advice I could give it to go and get a old record of Deva from the 40's. practice singing along. buy it in English or the language you speak.

as for the the breathy voice, you need to sing from your voice cords not the little girl voice in the top of your month.

To project, you start with a note, C, then go CCCCCCCCCCCCC as you as you take in a deep breath and expand your lungs, the Oh or OOOOOOOOOOOOOO as you push it out. this is for control and strength of the vocal cords.

If you can sign in a church choir that could help you also to learn parts and control under someone that hopefully has some training.
have fun and practice. Singing is a rt, but it is fun too.

the one thing to do is to plug both ears then read , and fill the vibrating this will help you with your diapheram . it will take time to get use to.

Hmmm don't know how to hold you on the long notes as it comes natural to me,but I would say practice every day. Listen to the pitch of the original singer of the song and study the rhythm patterns. If you can't sightread, memorize where the singer starts to harmonize in the beginning of the song. Listen to the chorus and play it in your head, singing along with it. Sing low at first then gradually build up. I do that to some of the songs that i sing since there's no sheet music for a lot of the r&b and rock songs that I sing, Have fun with singing. It takes away the longing I have to have a girlfriend.

umm okay when u sing breath thro ur stomach this may sound stupid but lay down on ur back and breath but try to just move ur stomach if u breath and ur torso goes up ur breathing right but for a singer u must sing with just ur stomach oh in hale and exhell through ur mouth not ur nose ,and also to not sound breathy dont sing like for example silent night breath holy night breath all is calm breath all is bright etc. sing like this silent night holy night breath all is calm all is bright breath round yon vergin mother and child breath etc. but for the breathy thing this is coming from someone who can hold something out for 8 to 12 measures strait but good luck!
