Garage band...cant hear singer..equipment? |
im in a band, we can only practice in a garage and cannot hear the singer over the amps...what equipment do i need in order to balance instruments and vocals and to hear singer clearly? we have a p.a. but you still can't hear the vocals sounds like you don't have a P.A. you should get one Common problem with most garage bands... nobody spends the coin on a good PA. Lead players crank up a Marshall stack and give no thought to the vocals, typical lack of experience with quality sound. You need a mixer so you can adjust the output level of each part of the band (guitars, drums, keyboards, vocals, etc.). all you need to do is learn how to control your volume on your amps. I played in many bands and i know that every bandmember thinks if they cant hear themselves, then no one can hear them, so they gotta play louder. turn down the volume on your amps and the drummer would have to control his volume as well, that is probably the most difficult thing to do, but it isnt impossible. Then get yourself a mixer, with a power amp, and some floor monitors. Thats all you need. Then with all these things you should be able to hear the singer. you dont have to spend thousands of dollars on all this equipment, unless you gonna go out and do a gig somewhere, but that should be good enough for a garage. |
