How do you get good vibrato when singing?? |
I really want to learn to sing with vibrato while singing, but I just can't seem to get it. I try to breathe with my diaphragm and I practice a lot, but I guess I am doing something wrong. And i can't afford a music teacher, so does anyone have any lessons or tips to get vibrato as quickly as possible? Thanks so much!! There's several reasons why you don't have vibrato. You might be trying to support your sound from the throat (wrong breath support), you might be too young to have a steady vibrato yet, you might be tensing up somewhere in your body that's counterproductive to diaphragmmatic support. Besides 'breathing with your diaphragm', try to feel like you're taking the sound, drawing the sound from the ground or from as deep down in your body as possible. This would almost always make sure you're supporting your voice from the diaphragm instead of the throat. As you get used to 'grounded' singing, the vibrato will come and your throat will feel more relaxed. Vibrato is something that cannot be rushed if you want to keep your vocal cords healthy, and it's not encouraged for anyone to try and create/force it via tensing up your throat muscles or what have you (at least not for classical singing). Forcing a vibrato is not only bad for your voice, it also doesn't sound good. It sounds fake. Vibrato is the result of proper breath support. Breath from your stomach & practice.. It will come to you over time. Strengthen your diaphragm muscle by lying down with a heavy book on your diaphragm and pushing the book up as you inhale. Practice a few minutes every night for 2 weeks). i've developed vabratto thru just singing mariah carey songs. always be my baby is a good one. i have learned to do cool things with my voice like she does. but it is hard to do when you hardly ever sing anymore. To add to what musicy mentioned about producing the voice deep from the body... I"m not sure whether she'd agree with me: try this- as you sing a long note, imagine pushing your diaphragm down by slowly pushing your left hand down in front of your body... |
