is there really different ways to sing? i try and get my voice out my lungs, which i why i cant sing sitting down. so what is head voice? is that just singing from your throat? how do you REALLY should sing? Well there's really only one way to sing. That's by singing with your OWN oringinal voice. Not trying to immitate anyone but, yourself. The voicee that makes you, you!
Number one : Breathing
Breathing from your diaphragm is the breathing that a singer should sing with. When you breathe in, the air should go straight to the bottom of your stomach causing your back, sides, and stomach itself to expand. Your chest should not rise (because your singing from your diaphragm: located just beneath your ribcage), and your shoulders should almost not rise as well.
I know it's not a well written discription but, if you type in 'singing with diaphragm', there should be lots of people asking it with really good answers. It may help =).
There are 2 main registers. Chest voice & headvoice. Chest voice is the register you use to speak with. When you speak, put your hand over your chest and you'd feel vibrations.
(Be aware: you do not sing with your talking voice)
Head voice, is the higher pitch in voice. It's the register you use when you do a girly high-pitched scream LOL, or in a girl's case, when she speaks softly but in a high pitched tone. When you sing in this tone, you can feel the vibrations in your face. Like I said, when you put your hand over your chest to feel vibrations for the chest register, if your singing in your head voice the vibrations are no longer felt there.
And no, singing from your head voice is different than singing from your throat.
Singing from your throat , you can tell because usually your throat would start to hurt. Singing should NEVER hurt. (If it hurts, your doing it wrong.) Also, singing from your throat doesn't really require air.. it's easy done and, try recording yourself. I think you can tell the difference. It can sound like your trying too hard, forcing, or even straining the notes.
Singing should be natural and easy-going (that is, only once you get used to it)
Singing is about 3 elements. Pitch, tone and power.
Pitch - able to hit the right notes
Tone - our tone in voice which seperates us from different people ( making your voice you! )
Power- being able to blast out a note without screaming, shouting.
Well, if you really want to sing. The first key is breathing. Practice on it with some scales (Do,Re,Mi,Fa.. etc.). Do exercizes! Remember, your just starting out so don't expect it be great. You will get better in time. If your serious about this you can always ask a teacher, or take lessons. But, overall, singing should be fun and easy =). Good luck! |
