I am a baritenor. The highest note I sing is an A# above middle C and occasionally a few notes higher. My question is how do I hit high notes like Freddie Mercury, Robert Plant, Chris Cornell, and Steven Tyler. All of them sing in head voice or countertenor. Do I just practice in my tenor voice so that my vocal muscles get stronger which will enable to sing high notes. Or is there another method I have to do? before i answer your question i just have to say the difference between baritones and tenors is that the tenors voice are naturally thin giving them ease sing high notes naturally whislt the baritone voice is usually darker and huskier giving their voice more weight and therefore making it harder to lift to get up there.
you have to develop a strong head voice which is hard to accomplish seeing as where most comfortable with our middle voices.
Eric Arceneux is a baritone vocal coach/singer on youtube who has a great head voice he can hit alto F!

by the way even if you do gain the tenor range, the baritone voice will get tired singing tenor quicker than a natural tenor so dont always choose to sing tenor you were gaven a baritone voice use it! most vocal research has shown that ther is no direct link between using the falsetto voice to build up the full voice up top. At best, it can take the fear of high notes away, but it won't help you gain the strength to use your full voice up there. You will just need to keep on practising your full voice ( for which I would strongly urge you go to a teacher!) or be content with singing in falsetto for the very highest notes.
I see nothing wrong in being content with baritone. They have almost as many exciting things to do vocally as the
tenors do. We can't change the equipment we are given, we can only use it to the best of our abilities. And high notes are not everything. If the middle voice and the lower voice are not in good shape, no amount of high notes will make up for that lack. We sing, after all, mostly in the middle. It's not boring, it's natural. You gotta have the cake to enjoy the frosting, y'know.
Best wishes and keep on singing |
