I really want to increase my vocal range.?

I don't mean to sound impatient, but i have a school performance coming up in the next month or so. I have all the basic singing abilities already but I need tips on how i can really improve my singing voice and vocal range a lot. Please help.

I wasn't going to answer this - but be very careful about straining your voice and singing the "screechy" notes. Just work on your performance material so that you know it very well - record yourself in segments (maybe a phrase at a time or a measure at a time) and try to improve on that. Ask for extra help from your teacher if you need it. Don't sing all day, unless you are already doing that - it will be bad for your voice. Try to sing enough that you can make it through the entire performance without vocal fatigue.

If you are having a hard time hitting high notes for your performance material, go up until you start to feel uncomfortable, then work on the notes right BELOW that.

If you do that, then you can gently ease yourself up - safely. Try to go up a 1/2 step or so a week - go really slowly. If you are singing with a group and you can't hit the note, then you can't. Don't force yourself. If it is a solo ask the teacher. She might be able to suggest an alternate note for you to sing if you are having a hard time hitting a particular note.

Just practice staying on pitch and putting in the appropriate dynamics. And don't "screech" or kill your voice. You have a lot of years to sing - take your time and enjoy the process.

And make sure to warm up your voice thoroughly before the performance. Have fun.

Practise your highs and lows now, then start to go lower and higher. Kareoke helps. If that dosnt help.. shoot me and e-mail.. ill put ma adress in resourses.

If you have a piano or keyboard at home, use it, it helps. sit by it, play each note and sing it back.
see how far up and down you can go without sounding screechy.
find the first note where you start sounding screechy and work on that note all day.
every day see if you can sqeeze in another new note.
you have to just keep singing those too high or too low notes, no matter how ugly they might sound, which is why you should do this alone.
also, sing scales in a row.
if you sort of ease your voice into those high ones instead of doing them straight off the bat, they'll sound a bit better
good luck! and remember the best thing to do is to practice as much as possible!
o yeah, the higher you go, the lower you should try to drop your jaw. it works like magic!!
