How will the writers strike effect soap operas?

According to what I've read the producers on the day time soaps are going to do the writing to keep the story lines on schedule.

There will be no one to do the writing if the strike isn't resolved before the scripts run out. I hope they settle this soon. I heard that some show may hire people who really didn't want to strike to come in and do it.

Oh my dear Lord the one time Days Of OurLives gets my favorite characters EJ and Sami together a lousy writer's strikes brews....so no standin writers for daytime soap operas is that what we are all sayin, god that stinks awfully bad for the fans...so much for soap opera viewership staying alive....

no more soaps. if the strike goes on for a nother 2 months every show will be reality. im sure soaps will go into reruns.

Re-runs would be cool for awhile... I dunno which soaps you guys watch but imagine seeing re-runs of GH where Luke & Laura were in their prime, DOOL when Bo and Hope were cool to watch and Y&R when all thoses characters who have been around forever weren't so old and boring.

they COULD get replace writers but I don't think they are.

the shows are generally taped 3 weeks in advance so they assume by early december the slots will be filled with news, informercials, etc.

My husband and I were talking about that just this morning, and he said that AMC has scripts ready to go for the next year! Apparently, they knew a strike was coming, so they were getting ready ahead of time.
