OLTL is Asa really dead?

I haven't watched OLTL in about 4 years, but I know he was supose to have died a few times before I stopped watching, and I have seen on preveiws that he has supose to have died between then and now. How many times has he "died" and is he really dead now? Just wondering.

yes I stopped watching but I loved the show, and the long time actors and actresses I loved. I had to stop because I had to much on my plate at the time I tried to records them but didn't have time to watch. Things have now settled down. I tried to watch it a while time back and with them changing so many people and adding so many new ones I didn't know who was who. I like knowing so that I can kinda keep up and not wonder if some one is going to come back or not.

Asa is dead. Phil Carey, the actor who portrayed him is very much alive and chose to retire at the age of 82. Asa won't be coming back from the dead. I'm glad they didn't even try to recast him. Mr. Carey has earned his retirement. I wish him well.

I think this time it is for real as Phil Carey (Asa) has retired from OLTL.

No, the actor who plays Asa decided he didn't want to become a recurring actor and left the show.

He has died before but this time he's really gone. He is fighting lung cancer (or was) in real life and decided to retire from OLTL.

I am not sure but a few days ago there was an "in memory" thing at the end of the episode with an old guy's picture, so I was wondering if he died in real life? I don't really watch OLTL only saw it because it was on before GH, so I wasn't sure if the "old" Asa (the one on the will video) had been replaced since then.

Yes he is really gone this time. They didn't renew Phil Carey's contract and he decided to retire.

the actor is alive- OLTL wouldn't give him a contract only 'recurring' ( that is when you get scale pay and paid only when you work)
BTW the "In memory of" that was on recently was for actor Lee Patterson who played Joe Reily- vickie's first husband and father of kevin & joey

Oh yeah, Asa has "died" before, but this time it was Phil Carey's decision to retire. He went a round with cancer last year, and had been wanting to retire before that, but OLTL wouldn't let him go. Even when he said he was retiring this time, they tried to get him to go to recurring, but Phil said uh-uh. So they let Asa die in his sleep, Phil came back for the taping of the will, and we'll all miss him a lot.

Asa is really dead on the show. He wanted to have a full time role on the show, the producers only offered him a recurring role status contract so he decided to quit. His health in real life is not well, I understand he has cancer or something like that.

Asa really is dead. He died in his sleep a few months ago. They are now having his will read. No offense, but if you stopped watching the show then why do you care?
