When will the writers strike start affecting Soap Operas?

I have been watching Y&R for over 30 years, when will the writers strike affect the show?

From what I've read, it probably won't. They say soaps have enough material to last into the new year and if it continues, they will have others (non-union writers) take their place, like they did 20 years ago when the other stirke took place.

It probably won't. They're close to settling.

It certainly wouldn't effect Y&R - they haven't changed a story line - or finished one through for that matter - in quite some time......they have all these open ended mysteries going no where fast and yet they drag the boring stuff on and on and on.....

This article does explain it a little but doesn't make it crystal clear most likely because each soap is different with different amount of written material to work with. Also, the strike could end befpre it even becomes a factor. Here's hoping.

CBS soap operas are expected to continue in originals through February.
NBC soap operas are expected to continue in originals through January.
ABC says its soaps are written "well into the new year," and that they will "continue to produce original programming with no repeats and without interruption."

I heard that they have enough episodes to last until February. There are also writers who will email their scripts. They can also hire scab writers.
