All My Children: Why do these men all take advantage of sweet Lily?

Why are there so many men in Pine Valley who want to pretend to be mentally ill so they can take advantage of Lily? Jonathan did it, then some dude she met on the internet, and now Richie. Doesn't anyone have a heart?

At first Jonathan was really mentally ill; he had a brain tumor and when they removed it, he lost some cognitive functions. He regained them later after a head injury. The guy on the internet was just your average SVU scumbag who preyed on younger girls and would have said anything to try to get some; Richie on the other hand is your basic sociopath who will not only use Lily, but his hearing-impaired father and his niece, Emma, as well. Point of fact, Lily's character has a form of autism that allows her to function, but leaves her judgment impaired when it comes to relationships. The question should be Why doesn't her family pay more attention to her so she doesn't have to look outside? Maybe Jack should give up Erica for real.

Richie has no heart but in Jonathan's case, he wasn't pretending at first. He really was mentally ill and then he had that seizure and he was better. He only pretended so that her feelings wouldn't be hurt. I think Jonathan really cares for her and he is real as far as Lily is concerned.

I don't think the powers that be can find a suitable storyline for her so they have her preyed upon. I agree I am tired of it. I hope eventually they will bring someone on that is just right for her. Richie is to self-centered to even have given her a second thought but he iddn't set out to hurt her, she just got the wrong impression of what he said and over heard the worst of the worst without all the details. Jon...I am still undecided about him since he at one point did kidnap her and her sisters and did torture her even though a brain tumor was to blame. They did have a special relationship...maybe Jon will wake up and see that he still wants lily and he isn't going to get that kind of love ever from Ava.

As far as I can see no one has pretended to be mentally ill. They just are sickos taking advantage of the situation. Jonathan was mentally ill but he was the way he was because of the brain tumor. But I agree with one of the answerers - it would be nice if they could find a character for Lily and let her have a relationship. It was so sweet with Jonathan when he appeared to be the same as she is.

johnnie wasnt trying to take advantage of lily. his mental health was restored and he loved her enough to not want to change the status quo which made her happy. he respected her, he did force her to do anything or push her boundaries. not many ppl have the patience to do what he did for her. i still wish they were together cuz nobody understood her the way he does. and even today proved it cuz he was the only 1 that got her to explain what was wrong with her. johnathan has a heart and lily has a huge place in it that not even ava can match.

its easy for the guys she meets to take advantage of her cuz she doesnt understand how everything works socially. and most men are creeps to women who kno how to operate socially. its fair to assume that they would take advantage of an innocent girl with autism.
