What do you think about Ellen DeGeneres still taping her show even though the writers are on strike? |
I think it makes sense. People have made plans far, far in advance to travel from across the country to see Ellen! If I were in her situation, I would have done the same thing. I agree with you. Fans, as well as people she has booked, have scheduled to be at her show. She should not be rowned upon for continuting her show. She is one of the ones who can survive without the writers. I don't usually watch Ellen, but you make a good point. However, I think if Ellen weren't under contract to show up to do her Show, she'd be off the air and out picketing with the writers. She does support them she says. whatever floats her boat!!! Anyone that goes on strike should be fired & replaced. That sort of "blackmail" might have been appropriate industrial action during the dim dark past, but today is just spoiled brats whining. If you don't like your working conditions/pay/health benefits/whatever, then QUIT! Go work somewhere you DO like! If you have trouble supporting "your family" on what you are paid, then what in the world are you doing having a family? I totally agree with you! And I just love how Ellen takes time to consider her fans and how she does her show even if something happens or there's drama or ya know her back,, she's so sweet and really freakin funny! She's doing a great job without her writers!!! Do people like Ellen, Jay Leno, and David Letterman really need writers? They're stand up comedians who wrote their own material before becoming famous, why is it all of the sudden different or hard to do it now? If anyone can, they can! It's a way to stick it to the writers. Do these writers not know or care that their selfishness affects more than just themselves? She was going to shoot anyway, but I think between all the negative with the dog and then this it was too much for her...she decided to shut down. As someone who is a writer herself...she needs to put herself in their shoes. Talk about the possibility of a strike has been talked about for months. If people made plans knowing that there might be a strike...then it is their fault. I agree with you 100%, I have no opinion now ,sorry. I think she is letting down her union and her fellow writers. If you are in a union, you do not cross your own unions picket line. I don't think she's a bad person, but this is a bad decision on her part. why are they on strike anyways? |
