How does Oprah Winfrey have such an influence on the world?

--Would you say being "influential" is a personality trait? Is it something that can be learned?

Take heart--she's really not that influential outside of the United States. Remember last year when the shopkeeper in Paris closed up the store on her because he didn't know she was supposed to be important?

Charisma is certainly a personality trait. That's what most "influential" people have that make others want to follow their lead. I don't know if it can be learned, but if you have some naturally you can be trained to maximize it's potential.

She's also been a positive influence to many, and used her celebrity to encourage the best of people (reading, charitable contributions, etc.).

being influential is i think gained not related to personality or learned, gained and developed more then anything!

She is, to some, the end result of the American dream. She was poor growing up, like alot of us, and she made it financially. She is easy to relate to as opposed to the actresses that prance from red carpet to red carpet, they see Oprah every afternoon.

I think Oprah is influential because she's normal. When she first came on tv it was refreshing to see a woman that wasn't perfect. She didn't fit the "commercial/perfect" image of what a woman should look like. She represents millions of women that the media ignored and still does ignore.

anything can be learned but to be influential you have to have a character and a personality you have to believe in something and she believes in a lot and she has also done a lot and i believe she really deserves good
