Tyra Show. Are kids now-days just lazy or what?

I caught some of the Tyra this afternoon. I've often wondered why so many young girls get pregnant when there is health class in school and so much other documentation out about it. Guess I got my answer while watching the show. They had parents and kids on and were discussing sexual issues such as girls being pressured into having sex by the guys with that lame line of "if you don't put out then I'll go someplace else". Tyra asked the kids what they knew about sexually transmitted diseases. One guy said he thought it was discussed in health class but he wasn't listening and then he laughed. She asked a girl how people got AIDS - the girl said by getting blood on you from someone else. She asked one girl what VD was - she started talking about "brown stuff".

Guess these kids just don't take things seriouosly and don't pay attention. Why have all this information available out there then if they aren't going to read about it, etc. Is this just plain laziness or what?

The parents had the good grace to look a little embarrassed at these answers. I guess we all become complacent at times thinking our kids are using common sense and are learning something in school. My son had a slight learning disability in the written language and had to help him with the reading, etc. so I made sure he was comprehending what he was reading. I also sent him to a male therapist when he got older to "have the male talk" as I am a single mother and there was no male role model around. Smart move if I must say so.

It's not the kids fault they are ignorant - it's the parents. They should look embarrassed. It's actually NOT the school system's responsibility to teach safe sex. It's the parent's responsibility. The only reason the school began to do it is because of the constant rise of teen pregnancy and STD's in the US....because the parents of these kids are not getting involved in their child's life.

If they can't communiate with them, then they have no business having kids.

They've should have used some "protection" and never gave birth to having children if they was not up to raising them and giving them proper information to help keep them from believing false info from there classmates that may be detrimental to there health. Parents need to listen to what is going on with there children and to get involved with there activities during and after school hours..

I have a son who's in his senior year @ UGA. And have been truthful to him throughout this span to where he is now, at age 25.
He is "pre-med" student and hopefully what I and his mother have instilled into him - he too will pass on to his children as well.
