Did you watch the Tyra show about how men of different races view sex?

Am I the only one who thinks the women chosen by the show to represent each "race" could have *all* been mistaken as "white" women from a distance?

Of course, "race" is an artificial construct used to segregate groups to maximize control by a given ruling class. Across the globe it *is* typically based on skin color: the darker people are often treated more poorly, but it's not always the case: i.e., consider English treatment of the Irish.

We have*cultural*heritage. Our*geographic*origins are important in studies of health/disease. Those 2 things do NOT clearly define any "race," however!

That said... seriously, I was very disappointed to see the Tyra Banks Show choose to represent African ethnicity with a straight-haired, soft-haired woman whose skin was lighter than the Latina woman, an Asian woman with very round eyes...it didn't do much to promote concepts of diversity in beauty. It reinforced the idea of a *single* standard.

If you saw the show, what did you think?

As a women, I thought the show was just stupid. Tyra loves to bring up these topics that make people second guess themselves. I feel she did not represent any of the men and women correctly. What was the point of this study......every race likes different men and women....and to put 8 people up there and say "hey this is how men feel about your race in America", is just a bunch of bull. She always does broad topics that dont serve a purpose. I could care less how a race thinks of me as long as my man loves me for me!!!! Tyra kills me......of course she had to talk about herself as always!

I completely agree with you. This is why I don't like the way she acts on her show. did you see the way she acted when pierre said those things about black women and she went off on him and said she was personally offended. It is so annoying. All of the women did look white or could have passed off as white. On the last segment when she asked the guys to stand behind their sexual fantasy, I couldn't even tell which woman was black. I thought the latina woman was black. They should have picked their people better for this show.

I,m watching I think its wack the guy said he likes
girls with different hair color and eye color like all
white girls have blue eyes and blond hair or something.
I think all the ladies represent well actually. but its still
A really touchy subject I hate the race card were all
different colors but were all the same in so many ways.

I saw the show and I actually disagree with you. African American, latina and Asian women come in many different shades, eye shapes and hair textures. It is absurd to think that all Latinas are lighter then all African Americans and it is also ridiculous to think that some Asian women don't have "round eyes" what a silly comment.

i agree with mimi. you can't classify a race by stereotypes. are you going to tell someone their not of african decent only because their skin is too light?cmon, get real

the women just stood there, basically like a sign saying"black", "white", "asian", ect.Whenever she said for them to stand behind a girl, she allways said "as a whole race" never "which girl is the most attractive here?"

But, i do agree they all looked white. i think dark-skinned black women are beautiful, they should have atleast used someone who looked black. I didnt like the fact that they represented white women with a blonde girl, most of us have brown hair. But, as i said, it wasnt about just the person infront of them, it was about their race.

no I am not a Tyra fan, I only watch her show if show has episodes about gay themes.

I am a Latino Guy and i want to say that i do not like Tyra show at all, she always talk about african american and white people, i do not understand how such a beautiful woman still battles with the fact that she's african american girl that is so insecured. Tyra you are hot !! and please there are another themes that you can be talking about .

Pd. Every time that i want to see her show i pray for it not to be another race topic like this one (how men of different races view sex). but everytime i failed . Like you.. but you got to stop! your race B. S. .

Yeah...the men where a bunch of idiots...honestly, what was running through their heads?....ohh I know...sex!......
