Has Oprah lost her black audience? Is she catering to middle-aged white women? Talk about it?

Has Oprah lost her black audience? Is she catering to middle-aged white women? Talk about it?

Her show is geared to a basically female audience who's a bit high-end.

Race isn't the issue with her as much as being intelligent.

She has lots of Black people in her audiences.

No not at all. I believe she caters to adult women, but not white women. Its sad that in 2007 we think that anyone that appears half way intelligent is catering to white people.
I guesss she dont be talkin black enough foe da sistahs. SAD.

sadly enough she has only fat depressed white women

She had a black audience?
hmm all I've ever seen were crying overweight white ladies! Who knew?

I wouldn't say she catered to white women, I just don't think that the African American audience is that interested in her nor do they relate to her. And when I say that I dont mean there not into her because she's intelligent!

I gotta disagree with you on this one. In fact, I feel that she has been using her podium in the past few years to specifically promote, for lack of a better term, the black cause. It's actually a good position for her to be in, if you think about it. She's widely respected by an enormous sway-voter segment of the population: middle aged white women. Get Oprah promoting a presidential candidate like Obama, and that influential group of voters will follow her anywhere.

I can't remember specific examples, but I do recall feeling, several different times, that she has praised and venerated black interviewees over white ones. Again, I don't have a problem with this because it needs to be done. When there is a special interest piece done on 2 people who rose above their circumstances, one white and one black, she will show more appreciation to the black story. I believe the road up for the black person is more challenging in most cases, so it makes sense that she would promote it.

It's the same with her excitement and attention to black actors and performers. She loves bringing on the black trailblazers and giving them accolades. Again, if she doesn't do it, and do it in front of her white audience, who will? She plays a very important role in black culture by riding that middle line. She promotes, even if in subtlety, the "black cause" and does so in front of an audience no other black person has access to. Yet.

i never thought she really had a blk aud

I know i use to feel that way to because there are a lot of us black women who can use a real makeover I need one real bad i would love to see how I would look with a complete makeover I am a women with a disability I would love it if /i could get the ucah 2 artificial arm i see legs being distributed but not many arms I just kinda feel like it would bee nice to see more of us up there with her i love oprah I have sent letters various times in the past 20 years I have not heard back yet so maybe you guys can help me get my letter to.

Oprah doesn't cater to anyone. Whoever gets tickets first is able to attend her show. I didn't know she ever even had a black audience. I don't notice things like that. Oprah is cool and anyone is free to see her shows.

The only thing I've ever liked aboiut the woman is her book club selections. She sensualizes all women; I don't like all that blubbering. It's a tough ole world... you have a problem, then deal with it. Don't whine on TV and depend on any talk show host ( Dr. Phil, Montel) or hostess to do anything except to further their own agenda. The worst just may be those lame old broads on The View.

that is why i quit watch Oprah show. she way too much into the black ladies and kinda left out the white women in all her give aways and book club is all about if not mostly about the black ladies. to me she is just too pred.

good question, you remind me of Halle Berry.
