Anyone else feel that Dr. Phil is as big a phoney as they come?

How many people out there think that Dr. Phil nothing more than an obnoxious con artist who is only "in it" for himself to make more money using his tv show in order to get higher ratings.
In the past, we have seen this clown have a single mother who is a nude dancer on his show and talked about how she will keep the secret of what she does for a living from her two school age sons. This happened a few years ago and we all know that "Dr." Phil's show is on after school is over with for the day. DUHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

BTW, I don't watch his show at all. I never said I did either Ms. Shortsp

I think it was more helpful earlier in its lifespan, but now it's like Jerry Springer without the fights.

Personally, I think The Dr. Phil Show is hilarious. That's as good as it gets. As for his financial intentions, I have no idea.

I think Dr. Phil has good credentials. He got his start on Oprah, and he's worked his way up the hard way. He's not a phoney. He has helped a lot of people. Maybe it's just that people don't agree with him. The same is true with Judge Judy. Just because she comes across as being kind of arrogant, doesn't mean she is not a good and fair judge.

Not a phoney, just a sellout. He likes the spotlight and the paycheck and the low committment of dealing with people for one episode instead of an ongoing treatment.

If you read his books you'll probably realize that he's actually very competent, and has helped many people. But I believe the guests he sees are dictated by the network producers, and he's enjoying his paychecks too much to do anything about it.

YES,,,, He is a idiot!!! last year my office had a flood and we were closed for a couple months,,, as a result I found myself watching Dr.Phil{{{ actually looking forward to it}}} AND then ONE day realized that I didn't like him, that I was just going through a deep depression and needed meds,,, within a couple weeks I was back to the real me and stopped watching him...WTF was I thinking??? I guess I wasn't!!!

I personally have never liked the guy or his show...I found the condescending attitude just a little much. I did take a show in recently (because nothing else was on) in which he was extremely vulgar to a man who came on national television and asked for help from DP (all that's missing is the i ;), regarding his alcoholism. I really felt for this guy, how flippin' embarrassing and degrading that obviously was to the guy and his family.

Of course, a little while ago I was telling my daughter that if we actually looked into this joker's life, we'd see that he's on the brink of a divorce, his wife is all showmanship on that show at the end...and sure enough, trouble in paradise. He's obviously not that great at relationship solving ... or he's too busy putting a face on for the public to see that his own life is crumbs. :)

That's your opinion, now allow me to express mine. I happen to like Dr. Phil, & I enjoy watching his show when time allows it. He truly wants to help people in crisis & cares about them. When I went through my divorce, he did a show on infidelity & it really opened my eyes & got me to realize a lot of things about myself & I was able to stop blaming myself for what my ex did. Dr. Phil makes sense & says it like it is. I like that about him. IF you think he's an obnoxious con artist, why do you watch his show. DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! BTW: Dr. Phil comes on in the morning where I live.

well every one is entitled to their opinion.
Now here is mine:
I happen to think that Dr Phil is great. He has great credentials, and has worked his way up to where he is now. yes he does make a great deal of money from it too, but i think he has done the work to get where he is at now. If you would read his books, you would realize that he does know what he is talking about.
I will say that some of his most recent guest are less then impressive, and sometimes wonder if they maybe got lost and meant to go to the springer show. But he does try to help those on his show and want help. Like Katherine who went to the middle east for some guy, or the first Dr Phil family. clueless parents.
I still love him, he give great advice. And has a good sense of humor about those, like you, who don't like him very much. :P

When he first came on I watched it. Now, it seems as though he has gone "Jerry Springer" and some of his topics are trashy. His wife makes me want to puke. How would you like to look like a mannequin all botoxed up and crawl in bed with Dr. Phil??? Not me!
