Will Oprah's appearances with Obama translate to votes?

Or are women just going to see Oprah?

It's extremely depressing that millions of voters don't study the important issues, but instead take the lazy way out by voting based on celebrity endorsement or, as was the case with JFK, good looks.
Possibly we could do a "test" election on "American Idol" or "Dancing with the stars."

I think this time Oprah won't have that much influence. Recommending a book is one thing, but voting for my new President is much bigger.....and I'll decided for myself - not do what some celebrity wants me to do. I have a mind of my own.

yes... and possibly... yes..... since Oprah is such an inspirational person... that could very well turn into votes for Obama.... but who knows... maybe all that'll happen is "omg, its Oprah!"..... but... that's my guess....

I really don't think so. I am not really a Oprah fan and could care less who she supports politically.
I think that most people should decide for themselves who they are going to vote for.

I don't think so. Most voters will study the issues and vote for whoever is the best "fit" for them personally. I don't know anyone who agrees with Oprah about everything.

The candidate with the most expensive campaign will be elected President. They tell us our votes count but it is just a survey. So why do you think Oprah the richest woman around is jumping on his team. Because she also knows the truth. Who has she supported in the past? So Hillary and John better start calling Bill Gates or Osama((Ha) because we all know he has his hand in the American government. The Bin Laden's are some rich Mutha f u ck as!!!

People in the end I believe will vote according to how they want , I do not think they will be influenced by her .
I have to admit I do like her , but as an individual I can decide for myself .It took a long time for women to be able to vote .

Unfortunately, I think it will bring in votes due to her endorsement which I feel is race based. It is true a lot of people will make up their own mind due to their own opinions of the candidates. But, let's be realistic a lot of people were swayed to vote for Bush for a second term even though he was and is an ineffective horrible President. Celebrity's have enormous power- Oprah in particular is very wealthy and is seen as an expert and people value her opinions; couch potato's could easily be swayed.

I hope not but I'm sure she is doing this because it is probably going to help Obama's popularity. The fact she has a daily show and does influence people in many ways is rather worrying. People need to think for themselves when it comes to something as important as voting for the president.

Oprah does carry a great deal of influence. However I would hope that people will use celebrity endorsements as a starting place instead of a decision making place. If a celebrity endorses something it may make me consider that person but not to the point where i would automatically endorse someone just cause Oprah did.

Yes, but people shouldn't let Oprah voting for him means they have to vote for him, people need to educate themselves on the issues, but unfortunately they want. I like O, but she doesn't have an impact on me or what I believe.

I think it might give him a temporary "bump" in the polls, but that it will not translate to actual votes.

I think it makes Obama look weak to have to drag Oprah around campaigning with him. And it is insulting to the intelligence of women for him to think (as I think he does) that if Oprah endorses him women will follow - as they do with Oprah's "Favorite Things" or Oprah's book club pick. But this is the election for the President of the United States we are talking about!!! Oprah can and should endorse whoever she wants - she is after all a US citizen. I would never vote for Obama no matter what - he is completely unqualified !!! - but I have lost even more respect for him since he started the "Oprahama" tour !!
